Chiang Rai is a must-go destination for tourists visiting Northern Thailand. This compact city is lush, green and fertile and has the benefit of many modern facilities, drawing repeat visitors each year to enjoy the simple life and escape from every-day stress.

Though hidden in a quiet peaceful location, Phowadol Resort and Spa is not far from town, only 10 or so minutes from Chiang Rai International Airport. If you don’t want to leave the hotel, you can simply relax at the hotel’s in-house At Bhodi Tree Spa. There you can leave all your worries behind and relax with a Royal Thai hydrotherapy massage. Or you can choose a treatment such as a body scrub while enjoying rejuvenating locally-grown and produced pineapple, coffee and strawberry beverages, which bring back the liveliness to your skin.

After relaxing you can indulge in genuine Northern food at Bai-Pho Restaurant. The tropical northern Thai flavors served here are reminiscent of the delicious tastes of old fashioned Thai cooking, and the food is served in a relaxing atmosphere. Lunch is served daily between 11 am and 2 pm, or alternatively you can enjoy an international buffet at only 159 baht per person.

If you are looking for Western-style food then head to Chan-pha Restaurant, where the international cuisine is served in a beautiful atmosphere, with a diverse range of foods, beyond the windows and terrace fabulous views of fields, mountains and the glorious horizon. Chan-pha international cuisine is also perfect for banquets and special events such as wedding parties.

If you fancy a late night’s entertainment, head to the Laoh-dong Cottage Bar where they serve typical Thai liqueur blended from Thai rice liquor and Thai herbs, which are known for their stamina-enhancing properties. Laoh-dong Cottage Bar is a nice place to hang out at night to enjoy a variety of herbal whiskies, while listening to the Northern chill-out music and relaxing in a cool Lanna atmosphere.
