Do You Like Ginger?
I have always been a lover of kitsch, but I wouldn't want to totally abandon my sense of 'good taste' either. And to find fusions of edgy fashion and really interesting furniture, you'd normally expect to have to make a trip to Bangkok. That is until you visit Ginger. Imagine bold contemporary styling with mild retro Asian edges. The two show rooms that Ginger comprises of are spread with a feast of nice things to buy.
The first room mainly presents reproduction Chinese antique-styled furniture. Randomly flicking the price tags as one does I was pleased to note limited increase in the rhythm of my heart, and the furniture itself is decorated with items such as lamps, glass and varnished vases, small mirrors and picture frames also all for sale. Drifting towards the back of the shop I passed the shelves of crackle glaze ceramics, simple designs in sky blue, moss green, and cream colours, the same ones I have installed at home.
The second show room has women's fashion and fashion accessories, most notable being the collection of beaded bags that I know would go down a treat as gifts for the girls back in London. In fact there was no shortage of things to purchase for other people. There is also currently an exhibition of unusual acrylic billboards painted by Chadwick Spector to view.
Ginger is an emporium really, a place to visit and linger a little.
I do, so I suggest you do too. Phone (053) 498 412-3 for further info.
