of Azkaban
Action, Adventure, Fantasy
Harry Potter and his friends Ron and Hermione return as teenagers to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their third year of study, where they delve into the mystery surrounding an escaped prisoner who poses a dangerous threat to the young wizard. Gary Oldman plays Sirius Black, the eponymous prisoner whose escape is thought to pose a great threat to Harry Potter; Michael Gambon plays the role of Professor Dumbledore, Hogwarts’ venerable headmaster; Timothy Spall portrays Peter Pettigrew, an old friend of Harry’s father, James Potter, from their days at Hogwarts; David Thewlis plays Professor Lupin, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor who harbors a mysterious secret; Pam Ferris plays Harry’s overbearing Aunt Marge; and Paul Whitehouse portrays Sir Caddogan, a Knight who becomes the temporary guardian of Gryffindor Tower.
Mean Girls

Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) was home-schooled in the African wilderness by her zoologist parents but finds that life gets a lot rougher when she matriculates at North Shore High School in a small town outside of Chicago. After she admits to having a crush on the ex-boyfriend of the school’s most popular girl, Regina George (Rachel McAdams), forces align against her.
EUROPEAN UNION FILM FESTIVAL 2004
This is the European Film Festival’s 13th annual appearance, and there’s no film freak here who isn’t glad of it. Only one problem bothers us: between the 1st and 13th of June, when are we going to find time to do any work? But let’s worry about that when the time comes.
The really big one, coming with lots of prizes and commendations, is The Best of Youth from Italy - all 6hrs. 23 mins. of it. Also tipped is It’s a Jungle Out There from Germany. Of special interest this time are the newcomers to the Union and the Festival, Poland, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary and Slovakia. Just what are they going to show us?
You’ll have noted we’re moved from the previous venue, Sipsong Huaykaeow, to Major Cineplex, and the price has made a bit of an upward swoop too: B.70 per seat. Still not bad, when you consider that’s below normal prices at Major Cineplex.
Anyway, thanks to the EU and the local personnel organising the Festival. Long may it continue, we say, in all the appropriate languages.
